| Importance of the Dean’s Circle
The Dean’s Circle is an essential component of the College
of Engineering’s recruiting strategy. As the college continues
to grow its endowments to ensure its long-term strength, the
Dean’s Circle provides flexibility in using funds that meet
the needs of students today. For example, Dean’s Circle dollars
might be used to provide a scholarship for an incoming freshman
or to supplement a scholarship package for a top student.
These scholarship resources allow the college to offer competitive
financial aid packages that help highly qualified students
attend NC State, in constant fulfillment of the university’s
mission. |

In addition, participation of alumni in giving societies
such as the Dean’s Circle—when paired with a growing endowment—keeps
NC State and the College competitive with our peer institutions
and maintains our reputation as a top quality institution.
US News & World Report examines levels of alumni giving
as a part of its all-important rankings formula—meaning that
contributors have a chance to influence directly the value
of their degree. Corporations and foundations look at alumni
participation rates as an indicator of confidence in the institution
before making their vital contributions to our institution.
Who supports the Dean’s Circle?
Dean’s Circle members recognize the importance of excellence
in education and use their resources to influence the education
of the students who attend the College of Engineering. The
College is strong because our alumni, parents and friends
work together to keep the college competitive. We rely on
you to support and grow the Dean’s Circle so that the engineers
of tomorrow are educated at NC State today.
“I give to the College of Engineering because the college
gave me such a rich and memorable college experience. I know
that my Dean’s Circle gift helps ensure that current and future
students have as rewarding a time at NC State as I did.”
Frank Culberson, ’60 National Annual Fund Chair, College of
Engineering
